The EQAR Register Committee has decided in its meeting of November 2014 that ACSUG has demonstrated its substantial compliance with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance (ESG) through an independent external review.
As a result, the registration of ACSUG in the EQAR has been renewed until 2019.
The National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (ANECA) and the quality assurance agencies from Spain's Autonomous Communities have published the report on the status of external quality evaluations in Spanish universities, corresponding to the year 2013. View report.
The evaluation and/or report for the 2014 call is now available to all who request a copy, and the resolutions can be picked up at ACSUG headquarters from November 24 to November 28, 2014. After this period the resolutions will be sent by mail. The opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The ACSUG is collaborating in the project "Recognising International Quality Assurance Activity in the European Higher Education Area (RIQAA)", coordinated by the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR). On 21 and 22 October 2014, the ACSUG director attended in Palermo the final conference of the project.
On 16 and 17 October 2014, the 5th General Assembly of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) was organized in Zagreb (Croatia). The ACSUG director attended the meeting in which important topics related with the association were discussed, such as the 2016-2020 strategic plan or the election of the new ENQA Board members.
On Monday 27th October at 11:00 hours in the Consellería de Cultura, Educación e Ordenación Universitaria will be presented the ACSUG´s publication: “LABOR MARKET INSERTION OF GALICIAN UNIVERSITY SYSTEM GRADUATES 2009-2010”. This presentation will be made by Consellería de Cultura, Educación e Ordenación Universitaria, president of the ACSUG board of Directors and ACSUG Director.
This survey is framed within the labor market studies of the Galician University System Graduates, which are carried out regularly by ACSUG since 2001. The results obtained in this study provide information of the aspects related to the transition of higher education to the labor market: percentage of graduates working, employment search routes, factors valued in hiring, time spent finding work, type of contract and assessment of competencies required in employment.
On October 27 a training seminar for evaluators will be held at the ACSUG, covering the processes for renewal of accreditatiton for official university degrees.
The members of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) have to carry out every five years an ongoing and cyclical evaluation process, with the aim to demonstrate to ENQA the compliance with the European Standards and Guidelines. Regarding this, ACSUG, full member since 2009, has finished successfully the international external assessment coordinated by ENQA. The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) has published the report: "Transparency of European higher education through public quality assurance reports (EQArep)". This publication is based on the findings of the “Transparency of European higher education through public quality assurance reports (EQArep)” project. ACSUG has participated providing information about its methodology in the publication of reports.
The call for participation by university schools and departments in the certification process for implementation of Quality Guarantee Systems (SGCs) has now been published.
The period for submitting requests for this certification begins on September 22, 2014 and ends on October 22, 2014.
Universities interested in participating should use Annex II found in the Certification Guide.
On 23 July 2014, the Vice-rectorates of Degrees and Quality Departments of the Galician Universities have been called by ACSUG to a meeting regarding the following issues:
In April 2014 the ACSUG and the University of Guanajuato (UG), located in Mexico, have signed an agreement by means of which the ACSUG will carry out evaluation and certification activities at the university as part of a program to establish and to improve a quality assurance system there.
Regarding this agreement, on June 27, 2014 a training seminar for representatives of the Guanajuato University has been organized. During the seminar, firstly a summary of the evaluation activities carried out by ACSUG was presented, then the methodology and procedures for the design and periodic evaluation of degrees were explained and finally an explanation about the international evaluation processes that ACSUG develops was done.

The Santiago of Compostela University (USC) and the Agency for Quality Assurance in the Galician University System (ACSUG) collaborate to establish quality assurance procedures in the Uzbekistan universities, in the framework of the TEMPUS Project: "Sustainable Agrarian Management Studies for Uzbekistan (SAMUz)"
The 4th and 6th June, 2014 a training seminar for representatives of the Uzbekistan universities is organized. During the seminar, firstly a summary of the evaluation activities carried out by ACSUG are presented, then the methodology and procedures for design and periodic evaluation of degrees are explained and finally a practical case is done.
On 24 and 25 April 2014, the 2014 Members' Forum of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) was organized in Saint Petersburg (Russia). The ACSUG director attended this meeting in which important topics related with the association were discussed.

On 28 and 29 April 2014, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) review team, responsible of the ACSUG external evaluation visits the agency headquarters to analyse in situ the fulfilment of the European Standards and Guidelines by ACSUG. The review team is going to meet with representatives of all the Galician University System stakeholders: ACSUG staff, members of all the agency's bodies, representatives of the Galician Government, representatives of the Galician Universities, external experts, students, employers and external working groups.
The ACSUG is a full member of ENQA since 2009 and the visit of the review team is part of the external evaluation process that the agencies members of the association has to successfully carry out every 5 years. The ACSUG has already finished the first stage of self-assessment, sending the subsequent report to the review team.

The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) has been published newsletters periodically since 2012, providing an additional platform for ENQA Members and Affiliates to share their news and projects. The ACSUG has collaborated in the 7th newsletter, published recently, with a new about the launching of the Pilot Project of Accreditation of University Degrees.
On February 19-21, 2014 evaluations will take place for the awarding of funding to support the initial stage of post-doctoral training, as part of the 2013 Galician Plan for Research, Innovation, and Growth (I2C Plan). The purpose of these awards is to expand opportunities for specialized training in foreign countries for researchers with doctoral degrees, by providing funding for post-doctoral research stays followed by reincorporation into the Galician University System (SUG).
Seminar directed towards Evaluation Committees
On February 5th a training seminar will be held at the ACSUG, directed towards members of Evaluation Committees who are participating in the 4th Call for Implementation of the DOCENTIA Program at the University of A Coruña.
The objectives of this seminar are: to inform the committee members of the current status of the DOCENTIA Program in Galicia and in Spain; to present the contents of the University of A Coruña teaching activity evaluation manual in detail; and to familiarize the participants with the computer application designed by the ACSUG for carrying out this program.
