The consortium Agency for Quality Assurance in the Galician University System (hereafter, ACSUG), following its general objectives of service to society and analyze and improve of the Galician University System, decided the implementation of a Quality Assurance System according the ISO 9001 standard. In 2006, ACSUG certified the system, which was in force until 2009.
In 2009, ACSUG decided to extend the scope of the system, including all the activities carried out and integrating the ISO 14001 standard of environmental management in the existing system. In 2010, ACSUG carries out the integration of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) in the internal management system
After that, ACSUG has achieved the external certification by AENOR in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 standards and the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme EMAS.
AENOR is a member of the international certification network (IQNet), so the certifications obtained by ACSUG are recognized internationally.
ACSUG is the first European university quality assurance agency which achieves these certifications.
ACSUG it is also included in the Galician Register of Centers Adhered to the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, which is administered by each autonomous community in Spain. In 2015 the European Commission decided to recognize those organizations with more than 5 years in the EMAS register, issuing a certificate to ACSUG for its labor in the environmental management.

- The current legislation in security and data protection.
- The current rules in labour risks prevention.
